{"id":111,"date":"2012-06-07T10:21:44","date_gmt":"2012-06-07T09:21:44","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/?p=111"},"modified":"2012-06-19T10:49:19","modified_gmt":"2012-06-19T09:49:19","slug":"travelling-gallery","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/?p=111","title":{"rendered":"Travelling Gallery"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/travelling-gallery.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft size-medium wp-image-114\" title=\"travelling gallery\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/travelling-gallery-300x96.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"96\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/travelling-gallery-300x96.jpg 300w, https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/travelling-gallery.jpg 775w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a>The <a title=\"Travelling Gallery current exhibition\" href=\"http:\/\/www.travellinggallery.com\/currentexhibitiondefault\" target=\"_blank\">Travelling Gallery<\/a> came to visit our school today. \u00a0There were a couple of nice exhibits made using 3D printers including a clear bowl &#8211; I hadn&#8217;t realised you can print so clear and smooth with 3D printers now.<\/p>\n<p>There was an exhibit that was <a title=\"Tablephonograph\" href=\"http:\/\/www.rufa.net\/tablephonograph\" target=\"_blank\">an Android app<\/a> that is like <a title=\"Kirsty Stansfield\" href=\"http:\/\/www.travellinggallery.com\/altw\/kirsty-stansfield\" target=\"_blank\">a record player for objects<\/a>. \u00a0It translates bumps and texture into sound.<\/p>\n<p>I liked an exhibit called <a title=\"Flat Earth\" href=\"http:\/\/www.thomson-craighead.net\/docs\/flat_earth.html\" target=\"_blank\">Flat Earth<\/a>, a film made entirely from freely available satellite images and Creative Commons Flickr photos with fragments of blog posts being read out as a narrative.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft\" title=\"Early research robot by Wendy McMurdo\" src=\"http:\/\/www.travellinggallery.com\/project\/assets\/gallery\/small%20robot.jpg\" alt=\"Early research robot by Wendy McMurdo\" width=\"480\" height=\"485\" \/>There was an interesting <a title=\"Wendy McMurdo\" href=\"http:\/\/www.travellinggallery.com\/altw\/wendy-mcmurdo\" target=\"_blank\">large photo of a robot<\/a> with human eyes superimposed. \u00a0I thought this was interesting and would be a technique we could easily do in class.<\/p>\n<p>There was also a Flash animation of <a title=\"Red Riding Hood\" href=\"http:\/\/www.6amhoover.com\/redriding\/red.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Red Riding Hood<\/a>\u00a0and some\u00a0<a title=\"Donna Leishmann\" href=\"http:\/\/www.travellinggallery.com\/altw\/donna-leishmann\" target=\"_blank\">cool laser cut perspex trees<\/a>. \u00a0I thought this would be quite good to look at when we move on to Flash animation.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The Travelling Gallery came to visit our school today. \u00a0There were a couple of nice exhibits made using 3D printers including a clear bowl &#8211; I hadn&#8217;t realised you can print so clear and smooth with 3D printers now.
