{"id":490,"date":"2012-12-10T11:31:57","date_gmt":"2012-12-10T11:31:57","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/?p=490"},"modified":"2012-12-13T11:45:12","modified_gmt":"2012-12-13T11:45:12","slug":"o-christmas-tree","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/?p=490","title":{"rendered":"O Christmas Tree!"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Today we started making animated Christmas trees. \u00a0First we drew a Christmas tree. \u00a0This can be done freehand using the pencil tool or by using the line tool or one of the shapes.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Christmas-tree.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-492\" title=\"Christmas tree\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Christmas-tree.png\" alt=\"Christmas tree\" width=\"327\" height=\"358\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Christmas-tree.png 327w, https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Christmas-tree-274x300.png 274w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 327px) 100vw, 327px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Ragged-style-properties.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-491 alignleft\" title=\"Ragged style properties\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/Ragged-style-properties.png\" alt=\"Ragged style properties\" width=\"201\" height=\"132\" \/><\/a>You can get a nice effect by using a different line style. \u00a0changing the line from solid to ragged and increasing the &#8216;stroke&#8217; (the line width) to about 4 gives a nice cartoon-like effect.<\/p>\n<p>We then tried out using Classic Motion Guides. \u00a0We drew a Christmas tree on one layer first. \u00a0Next we right-clicked on that layer and selected &#8216;Add Classic Motion Guide&#8217;. \u00a0A new layer appears above the tree layer. \u00a0On this new layer we use a pencil and draw a squiggly line. \u00a0Careful not to make it too squiggly or you&#8217;ll confuse Adobe Flash.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/classic-motion-guide.png\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone  wp-image-494\" title=\"classic motion guide example\" src=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/classic-motion-guide.png\" alt=\"classic motion guide example\" width=\"335\" height=\"295\" srcset=\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/classic-motion-guide.png 684w, https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/classic-motion-guide-300x264.png 300w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 335px) 100vw, 335px\" \/><\/a>Add a keyframe on the tree layer then right click on the frames and select &#8216;Create Classic Tween&#8217;. \u00a0Select the first frame and move the tree to where you want it to start on the line. \u00a0Make sure the dot in the middle of the tree &#8216;snaps&#8217; to the line you drew. \u00a0Then select the last frame in the tween and drag the tree to where you want it to finish. \u00a0Make sure the dot &#8216;snaps&#8217; to the line again. \u00a0Press Ctrl Enter and you should see your tree spin around the stage!<\/p>\n<span id='swf-490-1'>Sorry, either Adobe flash is not installed or you do not have it enabled<\/span><script type=\"text\/javascript\">swfobject.embedSWF(\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\/xmas-tree-with-motion-guide.swf\", \"swf-490-1\", \"300\", \"218\", \"9.0.0\", \"\" , {}, {base:\"https:\/\/digitalmediacomputing.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/12\"});<\/script>\n<p>You could even add a background layer (make sure it&#8217;s the last layer on the list &#8211; if necessary drag it down to the bottom of the list) and flying text (use the motion tweet from <a title=\"Flash!
